Ectopic Pregnancy
What is an Ectopic Pregnancy?
A normal pregnancy occurs when a fertilized egg implants and grows inside of your uterus (also known as the womb). However, in the case of an ectopic pregnancy, an embryo will implant somewhere other than the womb: most often in the fallopian tube, otherwise referred to as a Tubal Pregnancy. Other locations the egg can fertilize are within an ovary, the cervix and abdomen.

What Causes an Ectopic Pregnancy?
In a normal pregnancy, the fertilized egg will move down a fallopian tube and into the uterus. In an Ectopic Pregnancy, the egg is prevented from moving into the uterus. This can be due to multiple reasons, such as infection, scarring from Endometriosis or past surgeries, etc. Therefore, the egg begins to develop where it is stuck.
