What are Essure Coils?
Essure is a method of permanent birth control. It involves placement of a medical device called an Essure coil in a patient’s fallopian tubes.
What Would the Essure Coils Need to Be Removed?
The necessity of Essure coil removal is the result of either complications or side effects from the device. Complication can result from a barrier developing around the coils, causing a blockage in the fallopian tubes. Some of the side effects from the device can include:
- Headaches
- Heavy bleeding during menstruation
- Infection
- Severe pelvic pain
- Pain during intercourse
