Uterine Septum
What is a Uterine Septum?
A Uterine Septum is an abnormality that is present from birth. Also known as a Mullerian Anomaly, patients with a Uterine Septum possess a large fibrous band in the uterine cavity. The septum can be small, or it can be as large to extend from the top of the uterus to the cervix, dividing the uterus in half into two cavities.
How does a Uterine Septum impact fertility?
A Uterine septum distorts normal anatomy, sometimes preventing implantation or potentially causing miscarriage.

But there’s hope!
Dr. Jeyalingam offers a minimally invasive approach to repairing the Uterine Septum, making way for a successful pregnancy. How does she do this? Dr. Jeyalingam performs a simple outpatient procedure called a hysteroscopy to remove the septum and restore normal anatomy. This has proven to be a very successful approach in treating a patient’s infertility by removing the tissue that is preventing successful egg implantation.
