Uterine Isthmocele Resection
What is Uterine Isthmocele?
A Uterine Isthmocele is a defect on the lower uterine segment at the site of a C-section scar. What can result is menstrual blood accumulating inside the isthmocele leading to an inflamed uterine lining. This defect can be obstructive to future implantation.
It is not fully known as to what causes an isthmocele to occur. One suspicion as to a contributing factor is what type of sutures were used to close the C-section scar, and whether the uterus was repaired in one or two layers.
Can Uterine Isthmocele be Repaired?
Yes! Dr. Jeyalingam will perform a Uterine Isthmocele Resection through the minimally invasive approach of laparoscopy. During the laparoscopy, Dr. Jeyalingam will remove the isthmocele and reconstruct the wall of the uterus.
